VNRVJIET (Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology), Hyderabad had disrupted all the notions about the alumni database building by pouring in efforts for more than a decade. The institution can be described as an early adopter of alumni relations. They had achieved what is deemed impossible with a phenomenal completion rate of 95% by investing heavily in alumni engagement. They aim to secure the remainder of the information and plan to keep their efforts consistent for days to come.
Steps Followed:
- The institution is a trailblazer in the alumni relations arena. They have been stressing on the importance of the alumni relations by making consistent efforts in building an alumni database since 2011. By choosing Vaave in their initial stages, they started building a database by manually importing all the data from the public URLs of Facebook and LinkedIn which was allowed back then.
- The liaison team at VNRVJIET made it compulsory for all the students passing out to register on the alumni portal. This makes it convenient for both the alumni to stay in touch with the institution and for the institution to engage effectively with the young graduates.
- The alumni team didn’t restrict themselves to registration. They grasped the key to successful alumni engagement in their earlier stages of database building. Periodically conducting events, and reunions to stay in touch with the alumni helped the institution in maintaining a brand reputation among the alumni.
- To reap the benefits like their counterparts, the relatively older alumni also started registering on the portal. This made it easier for the coordinating committee to keep tabs on the information that was being uploaded to the database.
- By establishing a SARC (Student Alumni Relationship Cell) in 2021-22, the institution saw to it that the alumni are engaged to the fullest. SARC also helped the college in reaching out to the untouched alumni as well.
This astounding success of VNRVJIET lies in the fact that they understood the importance of having a database and the work that goes into building one. By trusting Vaave, they opened themselves to new ways and means of gathering information which optimized the efforts they were putting in. They accomplished something of great value like this with empathy, patience, and participation.
