Vaave’s technical prowess has helped multiple alumni associations provide insurance as alumni benefit through their respective alumni portals. By integrating Zopper, an insurance brokering website, into the alumni portals, associations were able to offer insurance to all verified and registered premium members. Through Zopper, alumni could avail themselves of insurance benefits for their family members at desirable terms and conditions.
Well-known alumni networks like GIMAA (Goa Institute of Management Alumni Association), NITDAA (National Institute of Technology Durgapur Alumni Association), NITHAA (National Institute of Technology Hamirpur Alumni Association), VNITAA (Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur Alumni Association) desired to provide insurance out of which GIMAA is leading the pack with 140 alumni opting for the insurance through the alumni portal.
The Vision & Restrictions
The alumni communities mentioned above wanted to offer group insurance to the life members as a part of the alumni benefits. Though they have zeroed in on the vendor, the alumni associations wanted this insurance program to be exclusive to the premium members on the portal. They also wanted it to be easily accessible to alumni across all age groups. But, they lacked the resources and expertise to implement their vision.
Vaave’s Innovative Approach
When we were briefed about the requirements of the associations, our technical team came up with the creative idea of integrating Zopper’s API, the vendor chosen by the institutions within the alumni portals. What’s more, is that the alumni can be spared the tiring process of filling in their details as this integration allows Zopper to take all the necessary information from the member’s profile. Alumni will be redirected to the insurance website with information prefilled in only a few clicks after logging into their account!

The Result
Through Zopper’s integration into their portals, alumni associations are offering group insurance to its members who couldn’t afford one due to existing challenges and older ages. This is a significant alumni engagement move by the associations to make alumni realize the power of signing up on the alumni portal and also helping them and their families.
Alumni benefits like this will help associations increase their alumni memberships and convert existing members into premium ones.
Value Created for the Alumni Associations
GIMAA did an excellent job of encouraging 140 of its alumni to opt for the insurance via the portal, and the other communities are also encouraging alumni to opt for the same.
The alumni are paying 30% less amount than they would individually, a benefit exclusively provided by the alumni associations.
An initiative like this shows how much these associations care about their alumni, acting as a strong base for the relationship between the former and the alma mater.
